Whether you’re sailing around sunny Spain, sipping cocktails in the Caribbean or exploring the hidden treasures of the UK, a holiday is something you want to remember and share with loved ones – at any age! Below we have listed some top travel tips to ensure your trip goes off without a hitch;
Pack for all weathers – especially if travelling within the UK! But, even abroad the evenings can get chilly so make sure you take some warmer clothing – oh and a rain mac!
Consider flight socks – Not only can they help you prevent deep vein thrombosis, they can also help with ankle swelling – particularly on long haul flights.
Take care when taking medications abroad – you may not give your daily medications a second thought but when travelling abroad always carry a copy of your prescription or doctors letter as some medications are prohibited in certain countries.
Make notes – Travel insurance documents can be bulky, to save room in your case and for ease in an emergency make a note of important details such as your travel insurance policy number and telephone number for our 24 medical emergency helpline. Leave a copy with loved ones back home too.
Pack in-flight entertainment – The worse part of going on holiday is having to sit on a plane for hours on end. Although most airlines provide in-flight entertainment it may be worth slipping a book or deck of cards into your hand luggage to help the time go by. Also, don’t forget the earplugs!
Book flights and accommodation accordingly – many airlines offer airport assistance for those with impaired mobility, be sure to look into the requirements and booking options before travelling. Don’t forget to check your accommodation beforehand too, to ensure it has suitable access for wheelchairs if required.
